A souvenir of Miyajima from Momijidani

Momiji Manju

This is a specialty of Itsukushima (Miyajima), one of the three great views of Japan. The original “Momojigata yakimanju” date to the 39th year of Meiji era when people came to visit Momijidani or Miyajima and searched for good souvenirs. Back then, each one of them were baked using a baking mold. Originally there were only smooth sweet beans as the ingredients of the baked cake-like manju, but nowadays those with various tastes are sold.
