A bowl seasonal “jewel” from the ocean, now revived!

Kira Kira Don

Minami Sanriku Kira Kira Don was originally created by local restaurant owners as a specialty bowl dish of Minami Sanriku Town. Using fresh local seafood, each restaurant served their original bowl. As seasons changed, the varieties of seafood in the bowl also changed to serve the best ingredients of each season. The restaurants closed down after the Great East Japan Earthquake and tsunami in March 2011, but since February 2012, they are back open as part of the temporary shopping and dining area, Minami Sanriku Sun Sun Shopping Village, and serving once again the region’s best seafood of the season.
