Mie
The genuine taste comes with pork roast with garlic and sauce
Yokkaichi Tonteki
The most typical way of eating this thickly cut pork is to roast it with garlic and lard, and with sauce on top. Many tontekis can be seen across Japan, but they sometimes taste completely different from those in Yokkaichi city. Even some local restaurants have thinly cut pork or of different quality pork, but if they taste the same they are called the “tonteki” of Yokkaichi city. It is loved locally as a dish of large quantity and stamina.
