Sasadango

Dango made with lots of yomogi, warpped in a bamboo leaf. Sasadango with an aroma of bamboo and yomogi is a very simple and nostalgic confectionary from Niigata Prefecture. Sasadango was a staple homemade food for Tangonosekku and the rice planting season in the old days. It was born in the Sengoku Period as a preserved food, and it is thought to have been invented by the famous commander of the Sengoku Period, Kenshin Uesugi.
