Wild boar hot pot is called “Botan (peony) Nabe (hot pot)”, because the color of the wild boar meat resembles the color of the peony flower. It is often flavored with Miso (soy bean paste) because wild boar meat has peculiar smell. Recently more people in the city started to eat more wild boar meat as a healthy alternative.
