Tokachi Shimizu Gyu-tama Steak Don
This is a popular local menu item of Shimizu-cho, Hokkaido since 2010. The town is the second largest producer of beef on the island, and its brand “Tokachi Wakaushi” beef is the main ingredient for this rice bowl dish. Locally-grown rice is topped with softly scrambled eggs which are also raised in Shimizu-cho, the third largest egg producer in Hokkaido, and the tasty steak is served on top of them, seasoned with miso-based sauce.
