Maruten Udon

In addition to the burdock tempura udon, this is the other udon noodle dish that represents the Fukuoka area. A ‘maruten’ fried fishcake (a large round fried fishcake known in other parts of Japan as ‘Satsuma-Age’) provides some very hearty eating as it sits atop the warm noodles. We recommend you add some seaweed and chopped green onions as topping. The simple broth holds it all together so well. This is the people’s fast food of Fukuoka!
