Kayakugohan

"Kayakugohan" is a name used for a rice dish cooked with lots of vegetables and meats in Osaka, which are generally called as Gomokugohan, Mazegohan and Takikomigohan. Kayakugohan is a dish loved by the Osaka people because it is such a "rational" dish, that tastes still good even cold, does not require any other side dish because of the various ingredients cooked in it, and could be cooked with any leftover vegetables. "Kayaku" means "to add medicine" and this dish was named "Kayakugohan" after the way it was cooked by adding seasonal vegetables that increased the nutritional values and medical benefits.
