A popular local snack in Hachinohe

Fried Gratin

“Fried gratin” is a local specialty of Hachinohe, and has gained great popularity among high school students in the region. Created by a local food store, it is an original recipe where macaroni gratin cooked with onions and chicken is rolled in spring roll skin, and deep fried in bread crumbs. Local children and students like to have it for snack or along with their meals. The food store also offers other varieties of snacks, such as chicken cutlet, fried okonomiyaki Japanese pancake, and croquette. Try the local taste when you are around the area.
