Shimotsu Curry
Shimotsu Curry is a new local gourmet dish developed in Natsu Shiobara area of Tochigi Prefecture, served at restaurants, souvenir shops and hotels in the area. As the only rule for them to follow is to make curry dishes based on Tochigi’s traditional cuisine Shimotsukare, which is made by simmering vegetables and beans with sake lees, each restaurant offers their own recipe, from typical curry-and-rice dish to udon, soba and ramen noodle, bread, and even pasta dishes. Visitors to the area enjoy their creative Shimotsu Curry menus.
