All the goodies of Aso boiled down into this rich sauce
Aso hashed beef rice
The red color of the sauce is reminiscent of the red soil of Aso Nakadake mountain. The sauce is made of beef and tomatoes and served over rice. These local ingredients have given birth to the Aso hashed beef rice. What makes it unique is that the final dish is covered in a creamy bechamel sauce made with Aso produced milk and cheese. This dish burst onto the scene on July 2009 and there currently 39 restaurants in the region serving this dish.
